About
Welcome! I’m Jill, home cook and health & wellness coach, and this is my compilation of learnings on how to cook and eat more nutritiously and healthfully. I enjoy cooking meals for my family using whole, natural ingredients, and we gather to enjoy them around Our Zinc Table.
As a healthcare professional as well as a wife and mother, I am always interested in how to best nourish our bodies to remain healthy. This blog will serve to document my learnings as well as inspire you on how to also live and eat well.
This journey did not start with this blog which I started to design in 2016. I have always had an interest in cooking. I come from a family of good home cooks, gardeners and farmers. I grew up eating as a locavore well before it was trendy. I thought the freezer was to store excess foods from the garden or freshly butchered meats, not processed packaged goods.
You see, I read food blogs, cooking magazines, cookbooks and more like it’s my job. I cook new recipes all the time, but I’ve become tired of looking at {or finding!} ripped out, printed, saved and bookmarked recipes. I also find myself looking up cooking tips and tricks that I can’t remember the next time {perhaps a memory problem!}. The blog is a solution to my madness.
With this being a compilation of tried and true recipes, resources, tips and tricks, I hope it may be useful to you to keep your family happy and healthy!
Bon appetit!
